"Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings." No Internet access at all.

I have a HP Laptop, running Windows 7.

The short version of my problem is stated in the title.
I cannot access the Internet at all, and the Troubleshooting Center produces this error message when I try.
(Usually.
Sometimes, it "cannot identify the problem" at all.)

The long version can be seen at this link: http://www.pchelpforum.com/wireless-help/126967-first-blue-screen-death-now-disabled-miniports.html
(It's another forum from where I was seeking help.) I post this so not only can my problem be fully understand, but also so it can be seen all that I have done to try to fix it.

Also, if I click on the Wireless connection icon at the bottom of the screen, I can only get "Limited access" to my wireless connection.
When I click on connect, it says "The connection was unsuccessful.   This computer currently has limited connectivity...." The little icon has a little clock on it...

I'm not trying to be testy, but this is very important: I DON'T HAVE INTERNET ACCESS.
I'm using my iPod to access this site, since our WIFI works, but not my laptop.
As such, I cannot copy and paste any information, or download any links.
I also don't have
any installation disks, or an ethernet cable, nor do I have the means with which to acquire one.

I know it's quite a bit to read, but I'm at a loss of what to do.
My laptop is my livelihood; I use it for school and for work.
If I must take it to GeekSquad or another repair place, I shall, but I'm rather hoping someone can help me out.

I'm not PC Illiterate, more of a Beginner, really, and I don't always know how to find certain programs or information, so step-by-step instructions are very helpful.

Thanks to anyone who replies to this.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~UPDATE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In case anybody was having similar problems:
I ended up taking it to a repair shop, and turns out it was a virus.
It shut down my wireless so it could not be removed [by me].
The repair people were able to remove the infection, so now my system is [hopefully] clean.
Keys to the Problem "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings." No Internet access at all.
Hi,
I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if it helps.
Method 1:
Turn Off Firewall/Anti-Virus Programs and check
if it helps.
 If the issue is fixed, you may have to contact the program manufacturer to know about the settings that can be changed or if there are any other updates for this program.
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats.
Running a computer without any security software can cause a potential threat to your computer.
Similarly firewall can keep the computer away from worm,
hackers etc.
Hence, make sure to enable the Security Software/Firewall once you are done with the test.
Method 2:
If you're using Internet Explorer, then we recommend you to check if proxy server settings are enabled.
To do this, try these steps:
Disable proxy server on Internet Explorer (IE):
a.       Click Start, type inetcpl.cpl and hit
Enter.
b.      Click Connections tab, click
LAN settings button.
c.       Uncheck "Use a proxy server for your LAN" under proxy server and make sure to check “Automatically detect IP address.”
d.      Click Ok to apply the changes.
e.      Open Internet Explorer and check if the issue persists.
See Change proxy settings in Internet Explorer
 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-proxy-server-settings-in-Internet-Explorer
Method 3:
Try the steps provided in the following Microsoft article and check if it helps.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/help/network-connection-problems-in-windows
Hope this information is helpful.
